Office Politics

I actually can't believe I'm blogging this, because it's so silly. But isn't that office politics for you?
None of the names I will be using are real because my mom raised me to not be a bully. (and I don't want to get fired if one of my coworkers happens to find this)
So the other day I was minding my own business (like I always do) and I got an email from (Lets call her Sue, shall we?) Sue asking me to turn down the heat in my office because she was way too hot.
Now that is completely fine, I wish she had come and asked herself, but I'm not unreasonable.

Now lets break here so I can explain it a little better so you get all the facts.
In every 3rd office there is a thermostat
The Office with it controls the heat on either side.
Now this is where my office is, and where her office is.

So my thermostat doesn't actually control her office. But every now and then when I am not in my office Sue will come and change it without asking.
The air condition in our building is also broken, but she thought it best to blame me for the heat.

So after I said I would change it I got another email from her. Only not so nice.

"I can’t possibly handle it this warm Katie – so maybe if you could bring in a sweater if you’re super cold.  If worse comes to worse I may ask Joe (her boss) if I can move to another office."

Now that bugged me. So I decided to go apologise. Even if it wasn't my fault, even if it wasn't at all in my control.  I explained about the broken air conditioning and that everyone thought it was hot, but I did turn it down.

So she decided to say  "I'm to old for this Katie"

And this is where I lost my cool. I literally had to bite my tongue, smile, and leave.
If I hadn't I would have said what I was really thinking;

(Now I don't mean to be rude I'm being honest)  This lady is terribly over weight, she doesn't dress for summer weather (she wears huge sweaters, its +30 are you crazy!) and she is in her 60's.
Now those all play factors on why she's always too hot.

So because I'm young, healthy, and I dress in office attire I am forced to suffer.
That's fair.
I was taught to respect my elders so I couldn't say any of that.
Now I've decided if she wants to be cold FINE, so from now on I'm keeping it set at +16

And now that I've vented I'll leave you on a positive note.
I'm going hiking on Saturday with D and I will be taking LOTS of pictures to share with you.

Love always
Katie

P.S. Sue changed my heat again this morning from 16 to 20.

NOPE you wanted it down, now you gotta deal with it lady.
I changed it back.
